According to NBD DATA, Vietnam’s exports of Organic Solvent Mixtures under HS code 38140000 showed strong performance during the first half of 2025.
Between January and June 2025, the total export value reached USD 5,979,826, with 3,883 shipments sent to 11 destination countries, involving 220 importers and 72 exporters.
The total export quantity amounted to approximately 9.46 million kg (or equivalent units), highlighting Vietnam’s solid role in the global supply chain for chemical intermediates and industrial solvents.
Sample customs records reveal that the exported products mainly included “PROCESSING AGENTS (ORGANIC SOLVENT MIXTURE FOR LEATHER AND SHOE SURFACE TREATMENT)”, “THINNER USED TO DILUTE PAINTS”, and “SCREEN WASH SOLVENTS FOR THE PAINT INDUSTRY”. These items are primarily used in footwear manufacturing, leather processing, paint dilution, and adhesive formulation, reflecting Vietnam’s extensive integration into downstream production networks in the Asia-Pacific region.
Vietnam’s exports of organic solvent mixtures showed steady performance with a pronounced rise in May 2025, when export value peaked at USD 2.03 million, accounting for over 34% of the six-month total.

Exports grew steadily from January to March, followed by a surge in April and May, largely driven by increased demand for chemical solvents used in the footwear, paint, and adhesives sectors. The recovery of manufacturing in ASEAN and East Asian markets after the Lunar New Year holiday also contributed to the rebound in shipment volumes.
Among the international buyers, several key partners dominated Vietnam’s export structure:
ZHONG BU ADHESIVE (VIETNAM) CO., LTD., -through its partner IAO SON HONG TINTA E VERNIZES LIMITADA., accounting for nearly 78% of the total exports. The company mainly produces organic solvent mixtures for leather surface treatment and shoe manufacturing.
CONG TY TNHH POU CHEN VIET NAM - working closely with Taiwan-based NAN PAO RESINS CO., LTD. to source adhesives and thinner formulations used in footwear production.
HWA PAO RESINS (VIETNAM), -served mainly downstream manufacturers in the resin and coating sectors.
HK UNIFIED CHEMICAL FACTORY LIMITED -primarily used as paint and adhesive solvents.
TKG TAEKWANG VINA GROUP -focusing on polyurethane and ethyl acetate–based solvent blends.
Overall, the export network reveals that most organic solvent mixtures were supplied to footwear and adhesive industries in Taiwan, China, South Korea, and ASEAN markets, with a significant proportion directed to foreign-invested enterprises operating within Vietnam’s industrial parks.
In contrast, the leading Vietnamese exporters were dominated by chemical manufacturers and contract processors:
ZHONG BU ADHESIVE (VIETNAM) CO., LTD. — the country’s largest exporter in this segment — specializes in custom formulations of organic solvent mixtures for global footwear brands.
NAN PAO RESINS CO., LTD.— a Taiwan-headquartered enterprise — operates major plants in Binh Duong, focusing on adhesive and solvent production.
HWA PAO RESINS (VIETNAM)and HAN YOUNG VINA CHEMICAL CO., LTD. contribute significantly to exports destined for South Korea and Indonesia.
These companies form the backbone of Vietnam’s chemical export ecosystem, integrating raw material processing, R&D, and downstream formulation in a vertically linked supply chain.
Vietnam’s export destinations for organic solvent mixtures are highly concentrated in Asia, led by China, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan. The key product types include acetone–ethyl acetate blends, MEK-based thinners, and polyurethane treatment solvents, mostly used in footwear coating, paint formulation, and adhesive dilution.
The abundance of detailed customs entries such as “ORGANIC SOLVENT MIXTURE FOR TREATING LEATHER AND SHOE SURFACES” and “HUMISEAL THINNER 521” indicates that Vietnam’s exports are dominated by industrial-use formulations, many of which are tailor-made for specific multinational manufacturers operating locally.
The expansion of Vietnam’s foreign-invested industrial clusters has fostered consistent export growth, with integrated production models ensuring that solvents produced domestically are directly exported to the parent companies’ supply networks abroad.
In summary, Vietnam’s organic solvent mixture exports in the first half of 2025 displayed three main features:
Strong export concentration — Over 70% of total shipments came from a few major chemical producers supplying the footwear and adhesive industries.
Stable demand across Asia — Orders from China, Taiwan(China), and South Korea supported steady month-on-month growth.
Integration with FDI manufacturing — The sector’s performance closely mirrors trends in Vietnam’s export-oriented industrial parks, especially those producing for global footwear and electronics brands.
Given the high utilization rate of solvent formulations in paints, adhesives, and surface treatment applications, the outlook for Vietnam’s organic solvent mixture exports remains positive for the rest of 2025, especially if manufacturing activity in ASEAN and Northeast Asia continues to expand.
