According to NBD DATA, Sri Lanka’s imports of TABLE (HS Code 94032090) showed a steady expansion in the first half of 2025.
Between January and June 2025, the country imported USD 398,768 worth of tables, totaling 295,431 units across 349 transactions, involving 253 importers and 199 exporters from 15 source countries. The majority of supplies originated from China, reflecting the country’s continued dominance in Sri Lanka’s household and commercial furniture market.
Trade data reveals a gradual rise in table imports throughout the first half of 2025, with April marking the highest value for the period.

The first quarter saw steady import activity led by large shipments from Chinese and Southeast Asian manufacturers. A clear rebound occurred in April, likely driven by seasonal furniture retail restocking and the resumption of several construction and hospitality projects. By June, import levels stabilized as inventories met domestic demand.
Sri Lanka’s import structure for tables is fragmented, consisting mainly of small and medium-sized traders serving local retail chains, hospitality projects, and custom interior furnishing markets.
Leading importers in H1 2025 included:
PROMOTA LANKA PVT LTD— imported USD 12,037 worth of tables, primarily from CANTON LAN TRADING and GRAND SPRING INTERNATIONAL TRADING in China.
RED BEE LANKA— total imports of USD 10,216, working with YIWU JUNFENG IMPORT AND EXPORT and HONGKONG ANGELA TRADE.
I PLAY ENTERPRISES— imports of USD 2,595, also sourcing from Zhejiang-based suppliers.
GAPE HOTELS — imported USD 13,322 for hospitality interior furnishing projects.
AYRA BONZ — imports worth USD 9,321, mainly commercial furniture orders from DKH GENERAL TRADING.
These importers mostly focus on mid-range and cost-efficient furniture models suitable for Sri Lanka’s growing urban retail and hospitality sectors.
Top exporters (suppliers):
CANTON LAN TRADING – frequent supplier to Sri Lankan clients such as PROMOTA LANKA and I PLAY ENTERPRISES.
YIWU YE CHEN TRADING – supplying multiple Sri Lankan SMEs.
HONGKONG ANGELA TRADE – diversified exporter involved in the furniture and décor categories.
GRAND SPRING INTERNATIONAL TRADING – focused on bulk shipments to South Asia.
YIWU JUNFENG IMPORT AND EXPORT – consistent supplier of affordable flat-pack table sets.
The dominance of these suppliers underscores China’s 70–75% share in Sri Lanka’s table import volume, supported by low logistics costs and competitive factory-direct sourcing.
Regional trade data for the first half of 2025 shows a clear geographic concentration in Asia:

Note: aggregated based on total importer-exporter records within the NBD database.
China’s export dominance reflects a well-developed supply chain from Zhejiang, Guangdong, and Fujian provinces, while India and Malaysia provide niche categories such as hardwood tables and hospitality furniture.
Sri Lanka’s table imports are supported by a recovering housing market and an expanding hospitality and café sector.
In the coming months, three clear trends are expected:
Shift to modular and ready-to-assemble (RTA) furniture — importers favor compact shipping and easy assembly options.
Growth in e-commerce distribution — furniture e-retail platforms increasingly rely on Chinese suppliers for SKU variety.
Rising interest in sustainable materials — demand for bamboo, recycled wood, and lightweight aluminum composite tables is emerging.
Given stable exchange rates and favorable consumer sentiment, Sri Lanka’s furniture import market is expected to grow by 8–10% over the next two quarters, with China retaining a clear competitive edge.
